FundedNext CFD Lot Size vs Risk Limit: What CFP Changes
FundedNext CFD may not set a fixed lot cap, but loss limits, margin and account-level risk still control position size. Includes code CFP.

FundedNext CFD does not publish a fixed maximum lot size for its CFD Challenges and FundedNext Accounts. That freedom is often misunderstood. Position size is still constrained by margin, daily and maximum loss limits, stop-loss exposure and any risk measure applied to the account.
Current Prop Firm Audit offer: code CFP gives up to 50% off qualifying FundedNext CFD plans. The exact reduction depends on the selected product and the total displayed at checkout.

Fixed lot caps and risk caps are different
A fixed lot cap says a trader may not exceed a stated number of lots. A risk cap measures potential or realized loss, often as a percentage of the account balance. An account can have no fixed lot cap and still make an oversized position impractical.
FundedNext's official maximum lot size guidance states that its CFD products have no fixed maximum lot size when traders manage margin and risk responsibly.
| Control | What it limits |
|---|---|
| Margin | Whether the platform can open and maintain the trade |
| Daily loss | How much the account may lose within the daily calculation window |
| Maximum loss | Total permitted decline from the applicable reference |
| Stop-loss exposure | Potential loss if the stop is reached |
| Fixed lot cap | Contract or lot quantity regardless of stop distance |
“No fixed cap” only removes the last item.
How stop distance changes risk
For a CFD position, approximate monetary risk can be expressed as:
Position risk = stop distance × value per point × position size
A five-lot trade with a tight stop can have less planned risk than a one-lot trade with a very wide stop. Spread expansion and slippage can make the realized loss larger than the estimate.
Example without assuming a product price
Suppose one unit of position size is worth $10 per point and the stop is 12 points away. One unit would carry about $120 of planned risk before trading costs. Three units would carry about $360.
This example explains the arithmetic only. Contract values, symbols and account rules must be checked on the actual trading platform.
Daily and maximum loss remain controlling rules
The FundedNext daily-versus-maximum-loss guide explains that the two limits serve different purposes. A trader can remain above the maximum-loss boundary but still breach the daily limit during a single calculation window.
For Stellar 1-Step, the current official rules page states a 3% daily loss limit and a 6% maximum loss limit. Those figures should not be copied to every FundedNext product. Confirm the selected model because limits vary.
Build size from the stop, not the account label
A robust sequence is:
- Find the current daily and maximum loss room.
- Reserve a buffer for spread, slippage and commissions.
- Choose the amount that may be lost on one idea.
- Place the invalidation point for the trade.
- Calculate position size from that stop distance.
- Reduce size when several correlated trades are open.
Opening EUR/USD, GBP/USD and gold positions at the same time can create a larger combined dollar exposure than any individual ticket suggests.
The 1% Risk Limit needs context
FundedNext maintains an official 1% Risk Limit explanation. It describes risk against the account's initial balance and emphasizes maximum potential loss based on the stop.
Traders should not assume that every account automatically has the same special control. Check dashboard notices and the terms attached to the account. FundedNext's risk violation types also explains how excessive individual-trade exposure may be assessed.

Common sizing mistakes
Treating free margin as a risk budget
Available margin measures capacity to open a trade, not an amount that is safe to lose.
Ignoring floating losses
Daily-loss calculations can include floating profit and loss. A trade that remains open may consume room before it closes.
Adding positions without recalculating exposure
Multiple trades on related markets can behave like one large position.
Using the coupon to justify a larger challenge
A discount lowers purchase cost. It does not increase loss limits or improve the probability of passing.
Bottom line
FundedNext CFD's absence of a fixed lot cap gives flexibility, not unlimited risk. The practical ceiling comes from stop distance, margin, daily loss, maximum loss and account-specific controls.
