FundingPips Master Dynamic Leverage: Gold Margin Tiers Explained

Quick answer

FundingPips' current 2-Step Standard guide describes temporary dynamic leverage on Master-account metals, indices and energies. Its tiers are cumulative: a larger position uses several leverage ratios on different portions of its volume. Applying one headline ratio to the entire gold position can produce the wrong margin estimate.

Coupon code: AUDIT. PFA lists 10% off all FundingPips accounts. See the FundingPips offer.

Official documentation reviewed: 15 October 2026. This calculation uses the documented Standard Master update, not an assumption about every account configuration.

The published tier structure

The official 2-Step Standard guide describes the following volume bands:

Portion of position volumePublished leverage
First 0.05 lots1:50
Next 0.05 lots, through 0.101:30
Next 0.05 lots, through 0.151:25
Next 0.10 lots, through 0.251:20
Next 0.25 lots, through 0.501:10
Volume above 0.50 lots1:5

The guide states that the ratios apply cumulatively to the volume within each band. It also identifies the update as temporary, making the selected account's current instrument specification important for a real order.

A 0.10-lot gold margin example

The cited instrument list defines one gold lot as 100 ounces. For an original illustration, assume a gold price of $3,000 per ounce. That is an invented price for arithmetic, not a current market quote.

A 0.10-lot position represents 10 ounces and $30,000 notional exposure.

Volume portionHypothetical notionalRatioCalculated margin
First 0.05 lots$15,0001:50$300
Next 0.05 lots$15,0001:30$500
Total 0.10 lots$30,000Multiple tiers$800

Using 1:50 for all $30,000 would give $600, which misses the second tier. Using 1:30 for all of it would give $1,000, which misses the higher leverage applied to the first portion.

A larger position uses more bands

At the same hypothetical price, a 0.30-lot position represents $90,000 notional. The margin pieces are $300, $500, $600, $1,500 and $1,500 across the first five applicable portions.

Total illustrative margin is $4,400. Dividing $90,000 by $4,400 gives approximately 20.45 effective leverage for the combined position.

The effective ratio is an outcome of this volume and price assumption. It is not a new fixed leverage setting that can be copied to every order.

Use the actual quantity, price, contract specification and platform calculation for a live account record. An order preview may also account for existing exposure and available margin.

Margin and loss exposure answer different questions

In the 0.10-lot illustration, the position contains 10 ounces. A hypothetical $10 adverse gold move corresponds to $100 price loss before costs.

That price-loss amount is different from the $800 supporting margin. Margin does not represent a stop-loss promise or a maximum account loss.

A review worksheet should therefore have one calculation for supporting margin and another for the contemplated price movement. Combine neither with the purchase fee.

The guide also distinguishes Master conditions from evaluation conditions. Reconcile the issued account after the stage change so that a previously used evaluation leverage assumption does not carry over unnoticed.

Coupon savings stay in the purchase budget

PFA lists AUDIT for a 10% entry reduction. If a deliberately hypothetical base fee is $150, the saving is $15 and the calculated final base fee is $135.

The example is coupon arithmetic, not a quote for a specific FundingPips account. It does not reduce the $800 or $4,400 margin results in the earlier illustrations.

Select the intended account, platform and options, enter AUDIT in the coupon field and apply it before payment.
