FundingPips Zero Open Risk Rule: Calculate the 1% Floating Loss Limit
Calculate FundingPips Zero's 1% floating loss limit across losing positions, understand why winners do not offset it, and use AUDIT 10% entry savings.

Quick answer
FundingPips Zero's 1% open-risk rule is checked against losing open positions in real time. Winning positions cannot offset those losses for this test. Looking only at the account's net floating result can therefore understate the loss amount used by this specific rule.

Calculate the threshold from starting account size
The official Zero guide sets the open-risk threshold at 1% of starting size and identifies touching it as a hard breach.
| Starting account size | 1% open-loss threshold |
|---|---|
| $5,000 | $50 |
| $10,000 | $100 |
| $25,000 | $250 |
| $50,000 | $500 |
| $100,000 | $1,000 |
| $200,000 | $2,000 |
These are calculations of a boundary, not suggested per-trade budgets. Several positions can use the allowance together.
Why net floating P&L gives the wrong answer
Consider this original $25,000 illustration:
| Open position | Hypothetical floating result | Negative amount counted in this test |
|---|---|---|
| Position A | −$110 | $110 |
| Position B | −$95 | $95 |
| Position C | +$100 | $0 |
| Combined | −$105 net | $205 of losing-position exposure |
The net floating result is negative $105, but the sum of losses is $205. Under the guide's no-offset wording, $205 is the relevant amount for the 1% test.
The arithmetic distance from $205 to the $250 threshold is $45. Treating the $100 winner as an offset would incorrectly suggest $145 of room.
A small additional loser can matter
Add a fourth open position with a hypothetical $60 loss. Negative positions now total $265 while net floating P&L, including the $100 winner, is negative $165.
The $265 total passes the $250 negative boundary in this illustration even though the combined net result remains smaller than $250.
This is why a position-by-position loss column belongs in the worksheet. A single account-level net P&L cell cannot reproduce a no-offset calculation.
Inspect the actual platform definition and live values for the selected account. The examples use invented amounts to explain the counting method, rather than predicting any trading result.
Keep other risk checks separate
The Zero guide also documents daily loss, trailing overall loss and trade-idea controls. Clearing the open-risk calculation alone does not establish compliance with all of them.
A position may be close to one limit while the account appears comfortably inside another. Conversely, reducing one losing position changes the live open-loss sum but does not erase a prior limit event or reset every account metric.
Use separate records for the relevant limits and the account's confirmed status. If a boundary is touched during a trade, a later positive close does not rewrite what occurred earlier.
A practical exposure record
For each update, list account ID, starting size, current position results, negative-position total and threshold. Save the time with the snapshot so that a later review can distinguish two different market states.
When part of a position closes, reconcile the remaining open quantity and its live result. Do not keep counting the closed quantity as open, and do not assume the remaining quantity is unchanged after a partial fill.
The Zero $10K reward review covers request conditions separately from this open-loss test.
Apply AUDIT to the entry purchase
With the site-listed 10% discount, final base fee = selected regular base fee × 0.90.
For a deliberately hypothetical $100 fee, the saving is $10 and the resulting base fee is $90. This example is not a current price quote for a specific Zero size.
Choose Zero and the intended size, enter AUDIT in the coupon field and apply it before payment. The code does not change the 1% risk threshold.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
The current guide sets the maximum open-risk limit at 1% of starting account size. Touching that negative threshold is a hard breach.
No. The official guide says only losing positions count toward this threshold and profitable trades cannot offset them.
No. Open-risk aggregation is a separate real-time control. The account also has its daily, overall, trade-idea and other published requirements.
PFA lists AUDIT for 10% off all FundingPips accounts. The final base-fee calculation is the selected regular fee multiplied by 0.90.
