Breakout Prop Audit 2026: Rules, Fees, Payouts, Trust and COMPARE 5% Off

Breakout Prop audit summary: Breakout Prop is a crypto-native prop firm owned by Payward, the parent company of the Kraken exchange. It sells one-step Classic, Pro and Turbo evaluations from $20 to $1,090, uses static overall drawdown with a 3% daily loss limit, pays traders on demand in USDC with a $50 minimum after the split, and accepts coupon code COMPARE for 5% off standard evaluation base fees.

This Prop Firm Audit review checks the firm against the five questions traders ask most: who runs it, what the evaluation rules are, what it really costs, how payouts work, and what can get an account closed. Every figure below is taken from Breakout Prop's official pricing page, Program Rules, symbol specifications and help center, reviewed on 1 November 2026.

In this audit:

  1. Ownership and trust check
  2. Evaluation rules audit (Classic, Pro, Turbo)
  3. Fee audit: purchase price, trading fees, financing
  4. Payout audit: split, minimum, timing, currency
  5. Rules that end accounts
  6. Audit verdict and COMPARE coupon code

The ownership point matters for a prop firm audit because most crypto prop firms are small private companies with no public parent. Breakout Prop sits under a regulated exchange group that has also bought NinjaTrader and Small Exchange. That does not make trading capital a bank deposit, and the Funded Trader Agreement is explicit that orders may be recorded internally on a simulated basis rather than routed to an exchange. But it does mean the counterparty paying your USDC withdrawal is a Kraken subsidiary rather than an anonymous offshore entity.

Audit note: the nominal allocation of up to $200,000 is a figure used to calculate profit share. It is not a personal cash balance and is not a guarantee that every order reaches an exchange.

Evaluation rules audit: Classic, Pro and Turbo

Breakout Prop sells three standard one-step evaluations. The audit compares them on the four rules that decide most outcomes.

Rule1-Step Classic1-Step Pro1-Step Turbo

Three things stand out in this audit:

  • Static overall drawdown. The overall equity floor is fixed below the starting balance and does not trail profits. On a $100K Classic the floor stays at $94,000 whether your balance is $100,000 or $108,000. Many competing crypto prop firms use trailing drawdown, which locks in profits as new breach levels.
  • A daily floor that moves with balance. The 3% daily limit is recalculated every day at 00:30 UTC from the closed balance at that moment. Floating P&L counts against it. After a profitable day the daily floor rises, so the daily limit becomes the binding constraint for traders who are ahead.
  • No deadline and no consistency rule. The target can be hit in one trade on day one. The trade-off is that there is no reset option: a breach forfeits the account and continuing means buying a new evaluation.

The target-to-drawdown ratio is the cleanest way to compare the three plans: Classic 10%/6% is about 1.67, Pro 12%/5% is 2.40, Turbo 9%/3% is 3.00. A higher ratio means less loss room per unit of target, which is why Turbo is the cheapest plan to buy and the hardest to keep.

Trading and financing charges

ChargePublished rateWhere it shows
Open a position0.04% of notionalDeducted from trading balance
Close a position0.04% of notionalDeducted from trading balance
Financing0.033% of notional per dayEvery four hours on the Breakout Terminal; daily on DXtrade

Audit example: a $25,000 BTCUSD position costs $10 to open, $10 to close and $8.25 per day in financing. These charges reduce the balance measured against the profit target and both loss floors. They are not billed separately, so a trader who ignores them can breach a Turbo account through financing alone on a large position held for several days.

Leverage is per instrument: 10x on BTCUSD and the index references, 5x on ETHUSD, SOLUSD, crude oil and silver, 2x–3x on smaller altcoins. Each symbol also has a maximum position notional.

Payout audit: split, minimum, timing, currency

Payout itemOfficial condition
Profit split80% standard; 90% with paid upgrade chosen at purchase
Request frequencyOn demand, including weekends
Minimum$50 received after the split
Open positionsMust be closed before requesting
Currency and networkUSDC on Ethereum (ERC-20)
ProcessingHelp center states 12–24 hours, usually faster
Steps before first payoutKYC via SumSub, Funded Trader Agreement, account approval (12–24 hours)

Audit observations:

  • The $50 minimum is measured after the split, so $62.50 of profit at 80% or about $55.56 at 90% is enough for a first withdrawal.
  • There is no payout cycle, no 14-day wait and no profit cap on the funded account. This is unusual in the prop firm industry and is consistent with Breakout's stated "strip the rulebook down" positioning.
  • A payout lowers the daily loss floor by the amount withdrawn until the next 00:30 UTC recalculation, but the static overall floor does not move. Traders withdrawing a large share of profits should recheck both floors before reopening positions.
  • Payouts are crypto only. Traders without an ERC-20 wallet need to set one up before the first request, and Ethereum network fees are outside Breakout's control.

Rules that end accounts

Breakout Prop has no consistency rule, but its prohibited-practice list is enforced on both evaluation and funded accounts. The audit groups them by risk:

Risk groupProhibited practice
Platform abuseExploiting pricing errors, stale quotes or latency
Information abuseInsider information, front-running
Strategy abuseThird-party pass services, copying external signals, changing strategy after passing
Account abuseCross-account hedging, arbitrage between accounts, sharing login access
Non-replicable strategiesAny approach that could not reasonably be executed in live markets

Hedge Mode is enabled inside a single account, but the Program Rules attach conditions to same-asset hedges. Our separate guide on Breakout Prop prohibited practices walks through each item, and the daily loss reset guide converts the 00:30 UTC reset into local time zones.

Other conditions: minimum age 18, maximum $200,000 in combined funded allocation, evaluation fees non-refundable, and a restricted-country list that includes Russia, Iran, North Korea, Cuba, Syria, Venezuela and others.

Audit verdict

Audit categoryScoreReason

Rule simplicityStrongOne phase, no deadline, no consistency rule, static drawdown
Loss roomMixedTurbo's 3% static floor is tight; Classic's 6% is competitive

Who Breakout Prop suits: crypto traders who want a one-step evaluation with a static drawdown, no time pressure and on-demand withdrawals, and who already hold an ERC-20 wallet.

Who should look elsewhere: traders who need fiat payouts, who rely on resets after a breach, or who hold large positions for weeks and would be eroded by financing.
