Breakout Prop has no consistency rule, no minimum trading days and no time limit, but it does publish a prohibited-practice list that applies to both evaluation and funded accounts. Breaching it can forfeit an account even when every drawdown limit was respected. This audit lists each prohibited practice from Breakout Prop's evaluation FAQ, funded FAQ, hedging and copy-trading FAQ and Program Rules, explains what it covers, and shows what is still allowed.
Rules reviewed on 1 November 2026. Coupon code COMPARE gives 5% off standard Classic, Pro and Turbo evaluation base fees; it does not change any rule below.
In this audit:
- The prohibited-practice list
- Platform and pricing abuse
- Information abuse
- Strategy and signal rules
- Account, hedging and copy-trading rules
- Non-replicable strategies and strategy changes
- What is explicitly allowed
- Audit checklist and COMPARE coupon code

Platform and pricing abuse
Breakout Prop runs its own Terminal and offers DXtrade. Both platforms occasionally show stale quotes, delayed updates or feed errors. The rule prohibits trading that deliberately profits from these conditions, such as:
- Entering at a price that has not updated while the underlying market has moved.
- Repeated orders timed to exploit a known delay between the feed and execution.
- Trading symbols during a data outage to capture a mispriced fill.
The official position is that these fills can be reversed and the account reviewed. A one-off fill during a glitch is not the same as a strategy built around glitches; the rule targets the pattern.
Information abuse
Insider information and front-running are prohibited on every Breakout Prop account. In a crypto context this covers trading on non-public knowledge of exchange listings, token unlocks, protocol decisions or large pending orders. Trading public news as it breaks is allowed; Breakout Prop permits news trading with no restricted windows.
Strategy and signal rules
| Practice | Status |
|---|---|
| Using a paid "pass service" or account-management vendor | Prohibited |
| Using a bot sold specifically to pass prop evaluations | Prohibited |
| Copying trades from another trader, group or paid signal service | Prohibited |
| Running your own automated strategy | Not listed as prohibited; must be replicable in live markets and must not exploit platform errors |
| Trading the same strategy you used in the evaluation on the funded account | Expected |
The copy-trading rule is stricter than at many forex prop firms. Breakout Prop's hedging and copy-trading FAQ treats trading someone else's ideas as prohibited, not only mirrored execution. Traders using a signal group should assume that is covered.
Account, hedging and copy-trading rules
Cross-account hedging
Opening long on one Breakout Prop account and short on another, or coordinating opposing positions with another trader, is prohibited on both evaluation and funded accounts. The firm's rule covers accounts held by the same person and accounts held by different people acting together.
Hedging inside one account
Hedge Mode is enabled on a single account, so a trader may hold a long and a short on the same symbol at once. The Program Rules attach conditions to same-asset hedges; the audit reading is that hedging to manage risk is allowed, while hedging structured to extract an evaluation pass regardless of market direction is not. Read the Program Rules section on hedging before relying on it.
Arbitrage between accounts
Using two accounts to lock in a risk-free result, for example passing one account on the losing side of a hedge and sacrificing the other, is listed separately from cross-account hedging and is also prohibited.
Sharing access
Login credentials may not be shared. KYC through SumSub ties the funded account to one verified individual, and a funded account traded by someone else breaches both the FAQ and the Funded Trader Agreement. Maximum combined funded allocation per person is $200,000.
Non-replicable strategies and strategy changes
Two rules are easy to miss:
- Non-replicable strategies. A strategy that only works because the account is simulated, for example sizes that no live venue could fill or fills that depend on zero slippage, is prohibited. The Funded Trader Agreement says orders may be routed externally or recorded internally, so the firm reserves the right to judge whether a strategy could survive real execution.
- Strategy changes after passing. The funded FAQ prohibits switching to a different approach once funded. This exists because the evaluation is meant to filter a strategy, not a person. A trader who scalped BTCUSD to pass and then swings altcoins at full leverage on the funded account is exposed to review.
What is explicitly allowed
| Practice | Status |
|---|---|
| News trading | Allowed |
| Overnight and weekend holding | Allowed |
| Trading 24/7 | Allowed, subject to maintenance |
| No minimum trading days | No requirement |
| No consistency rule | No requirement |
| No time limit on evaluations | No requirement |
| Hedge Mode within one account | Allowed, with Program Rules conditions |
| Multiple evaluations | Allowed, subject to the $200K combined funded allocation |
| Your own automation | Not prohibited, subject to replicability and platform-abuse rules |
Breakout Prop's positioning since its 2023 launch, and under Kraken's ownership since September 2025, has been to remove the consistency rules and news bans common at forex prop firms. The prohibited list above is what remains.
Audit checklist
- Trade only from your own analysis or your own system; do not run signals from a group.
- Never open opposing positions across two accounts, yours or anyone else's.
- Keep the funded strategy the same as the evaluation strategy in instruments, sizing and holding period.
- Size positions so they could fill on a live venue; do not rely on the simulated environment.
- If a fill looks wrong because of a stale quote, flatten and contact support rather than repeating it.
- Never share login details; the account belongs to the KYC-verified individual.
