Lucid Trading allows discretionary trading, automation, trade copiers, genuine scalping and news trading on most accounts, but it enforces a defined set of prohibited practices across every model. Breaking one can end an account even when the drawdown was never touched. This audit lists each restriction from Lucid Trading's official rules library, explains how it is measured, and separates hard breaches from review triggers.
Rules reviewed on 1 November 2026. Coupon code AUDIT gives 30% off LucidDaily and 30% off LucidFlex, LucidPro and LucidDirect; it does not change any rule below.
In this audit:

The prohibited-practice list
| # | Rule | Type | Applies to |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Holding simulated positions past 4:45 p.m. ET | Hard breach | All models |
| 2 | Holding over the weekend | Hard breach | All models |
| 3 | Trading inside the one-minute window around restricted red-folder news | Hard breach | Funded LucidDaily |
| 4 | Opposing positions across accounts or correlated instruments (hedging) | Prohibited | All models |
| 5 | More than 50% of profit from trades held ≤ 5 seconds | Review trigger | All models |
| 6 | Exploiting simulated execution, fills or platform errors | Prohibited | All models |
| 7 | Unrealistic high-frequency strategies that could not execute live | Prohibited | All models |
| 8 | Sharing or outsourcing account access contrary to the agreement | Prohibited | All models |
Position cutoffs: 4:45 p.m. ET and weekends
Simulated positions must be flat by 4:45 p.m. Eastern Time each day and cannot be carried through the weekend. On early-close holidays the cutoff moves earlier. This applies to evaluation and funded accounts on Flex, Pro, Direct and Daily alike.
Practical consequence: Lucid Trading is a day-trading firm. Overnight futures strategies, Globex session holds and multi-day swing positions are not possible on any simulated account. The firm's holiday calendar should be checked before every shortened session; see the holiday early-close checklist.
Micro-scalping: the 5-second / 50% test
Genuine scalping is allowed. The review trigger is proportional, not absolute:
- Trades held for five seconds or less are flagged.
- If those trades generate more than 50% of the account's profit, the account is reviewed for micro-scalping.
| Profit from ≤ 5-second trades | Total profit | Share | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| $400 | $2,000 | 20% | Within rule |
| $1,100 | $2,000 | 55% | Review trigger |
| $300 | $300 | 100% | Review trigger |
A trader who occasionally exits a bad entry within seconds is not at risk. A trader whose entire edge is sub-5-second fills is, because that edge depends on simulated execution rather than live liquidity.
Hedging across accounts and correlated instruments
Lucid Trading prohibits holding opposing positions:
- Across two of your own Lucid accounts (long ES on one, short ES on the other).
- Across correlated instruments intended to offset each other (long ES, short NQ as a hedge).
- In coordination with another trader.
Taking a long and a short on the same symbol within one account is not the same thing and is governed by platform settings, but using multiple accounts to lock in a pass on one side while sacrificing the other is treated as hedging. The hedging account map covers combinations in detail.
News trading by model
| Model | Evaluation | Funded |
|---|---|---|
| LucidFlex | Allowed | Allowed |
| LucidPro | Allowed | Allowed |
| LucidDirect | — | Allowed |
| LucidDaily | Allowed | Must be flat 1 minute before to 1 minute after restricted red-folder events |
The LucidDaily funded restriction is a hard breach, not a review. Traders who trade CPI, NFP or FOMC should not buy LucidDaily. On the other three models, slippage and volatile fills during news are the trader's own risk.
Automation, copiers and responsibility
Automated strategies and trade copiers are permitted. The condition is accountability:
- Every order placed by your software is treated as your order.
- Software errors, runaway loops and accidental fills are not grounds for account restoration.
- Automation must still respect position caps, the 4:45 p.m. cutoff and the micro-scalping threshold.
Using a copier to mirror one Lucid account onto another is allowed within the firm's account limits; using it to create opposing positions is hedging. See the automation rules guide.
Platform exploitation and unrealistic strategies
Any method designed to profit from the fact that the account is simulated is prohibited: exploiting fills that would not occur live, exploiting data feed errors, or running order flow at a frequency no live account could sustain. The test Lucid Trading applies is whether the strategy would survive transfer to a live-account structure, which is the stated end point for traders who complete the simulated payout sequence.
Inactivity, refunds and account limits
- Dormant accounts are subject to inactivity and deletion rules; see the inactivity guide.
- Refunds are available only on unused accounts meeting published conditions.
- Lucid Trading caps the number of evaluation and funded accounts per trader; see the account limits guide.
Audit checklist
- Set a 4:30 p.m. ET flatten alarm and check the holiday calendar weekly.
- Keep ≤ 5-second trades well under half of total profit.
- Never run opposing positions across accounts or correlated contracts.
- On funded LucidDaily, keep a red-folder calendar and stay flat through the two-minute window.
- Test automation on a single account before scaling; the fills are yours.
- If a fill or feed looks wrong, flatten and contact support rather than repeating it.
